Britney Spears’ marriage with Kelvin Federline lasted for little more than two years. Besides the issue of divorce, Britney Spears has remained at the headlines due to long drawn out legal battle about the custodianship of her children.

During September 2007 after her hit and run case, court had awarded the full custody to Kelvin. Britney Spears refused to relinquish, when it was reported that she was under the influence of drugs. Court had also canceled the visitation rights of Britney Spears, while she was undergoing psychiatric treatment at ULCA medical center. However, during January 2008, court had placed her under temporary co-conservatorship of her father James Spears and her attorney. After she was released from the hospitals, media was rife with rumors about bipolar disorder of Britney Spears.
In July 2008, Britney Spears and Kelvin had reached a settlement in the case of custodianship. As per the settlement agreement, Kelvin retains the rights of physical custody while Britney Spears is granted visitation rights for her children.
