Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony are not going to let a little thing like the possible dissolution to their marriage get in the way of making money: they have decided to sue a company. I?m sure extended legal battles are just what the already-on-the-edge parents need in order to work through their crumbling affair.
Jennifer Lopez, being the drama queen that she is, is angry at Silver Cross, a British manufacturer of baby carriages. Apparently, the company has been using pictures of Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony and their strollers for self-promotion.
The lawsuit claims that the twins? parents want $5 million in damages, a permanent injunction disallowing the company to ever use their names and images again, as well as any money made from those pictures. Right. First of all, how on earth can you prove that any money was made at all? I call bullshit on that claim: JLo, you are not that cool. Secondly, $5 million is a lot for a couple of pictures of her and her husband pushing a stroller.
Perhaps this lawsuit is another attempt on Jennifer?s part to resurrect her dead and gone career. When was the last time the girl had a hit? Song or movie, it doesn?t matter, she is gone for good. With the crumbling marriage and now this lawsuit, JLo seems intent on upping the drama in hopes of being relevant once again. Unfortunately for her, no such luck.
Now, I?m willing to concede to the fact that perhaps the parents don?t want their images used so some random company can up their profits. That?s fine and reasonable - however, the rest of the lawsuit is not. Let?s be realistic here: we?re in a recession, not many people are going to be buying too-expensive baby strollers. Also, the notion that people would buy said expensive strollers because of a picture of JLo and Marc borders on ridiculous.
Jennifer: you might want to think about doing something of value music wise instead of involving yourself in pointless legal matters. Trust me, actual work will do wonders for your career
